Todd Duffield named Chair, Department of Population Medicine
Dr. Todd Duffield has been selected as the incoming Chair for the Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College. Todd graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC)’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program in 1990 and practiced as a large animal veterinarian in a dairy.
Immune response may combat parasites in sheep
Researchers at the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) are investigating ways to identify Ontario sheep able to better develop immunity to gastrointestinal parasites.
Gastrointestinal parasites can be deadly for sheep, in particular Haemonchus contortus, impacting sheep health and productivity. Widespread resistance of these parasites.
International student relished opportunity to study cancer at OVC
Cancer research is a passion for Lais Calazans. The fourth-year Brazilian student veterinarian considered focusing on many areas of veterinary medicine – general practice, swine medicine, and anesthesiology – but her work with pathologists at Ceará State University (CSU) where she studies, convinced her oncology was the right choice for her.
The CSU student completed a year of study at the University of Guelph and the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) under the Science Without Borders.
