#2 bedroom apartments for rent
2 Bedroom Apartments in Miami, FL
Overview of Miami
Whether you’re a recent college grad turned young professional looking for a place with your long-time roommate, or a young family opting to rent an apartment with an extra bedroom for the baby rather than a starter home, there are plenty of great 2 bedroom apartments for rent in Miami. Located south of downtown, Coconut Grove offers a wide selection of such rentals and enough to keep anyone busy, while being just a bit quieter and more laid back than some of Miami’s other districts.
Entertainment and nightlife
For young professionals looking for an aesthetically pleasing neighborhood with lots to do, Coconut Grove can’t be beat. The historic neighborhood – it’s Miami’s oldest district still being lived in today – has an iconic look, with narrow streets winding below a bounty of trees and no shortage of scenic vistas of Biscayne Bay.
Nestled into these picturesque streets is a variety of options for entertainment and nightlife. CocoWalk is a large, open air shopping center with numerous restaurants, boutiques and larger retailers. Top-notch eateries and coffee shops are easy to come by throughout the neighborhood.
Residents will soon be able to catch shows at the historic Coconut Grove Playhouse once again, as the city is restoring it to a working theater, according to The Miami Herald.
Those with a love of water sports can take advantage of the district’s yacht and sailing clubs, and there are a number of welcoming bars where residents can sit and have a drink or two.
A great post-college neighborhood
New holders of a bachelor’s degree will find Coconut Grove a comfortable fit. It’s located just east of the University of Miami and is a popular living spot for upperclassmen and grad students, as well as the recently graduated.
As such, the area has a lot to offer those who’d like to maintain a little of the college lifestyle after they’ve moved on. Bar crawls are popular, as are the happy hours at Vino’s in the Grove, Flanigan’s, Sandbar Sports Grill and Monty’s Raw Bar, an establishment also well-known for its music.
Another source of fun is the Great Grove Bed Race, an annual event in which participants race beds on wheels through the historic streets.
Options for young families
Coconut Grove can also satisfy some city-dwellers’ need for quiet. The area is virtually surrounded by parks, including Merrie Christmas Park, Ingraham Terrace Park and Sunrise Park. These spots and the activities they offer make the neighborhood a viable option for young families, too.
New parents will also be happy to hear that CocoWalk hosts a monthly Family Fun Day at the shopping center.
University resources for the culturally minded
The neighborhood’s proximity to the University of Miami is great not only for students, but for young professionals looking to take in some culture and beauty as well.
The university is just on the other side of the South Dixie Highway from Coconut Grove. Within the borders of its large campus lie the Lowe Art Museum and its wide-ranging collection, as well as the Gifford Arboretum and the gorgeous Butterfly Park, located on the edge of Lake Osceola.
